Gold Band started as a private company in 1929.

At one time we had the largest fleet of 52 Ford V8 cars in New Zealand.
In 1973 we became the first double shifted fleet in the country and the
largest employer of taxi drivers.

Locations for our offices have been many and varied since the start of the company.
Depots were situated in Madras St, Tuam St, Gloucester St, Shakespeare Rd
and in August 1996 purchasing our present building at 193 Montreal St.
A major step forward was made on 12 October 1993 when we switched on the Raywood Dispatcher III system for a two hour trial and we have not switched this off since.
In 1997 Gold Band achieved another world "First" by operating 2 totally independent Taxi Fleets on a single data channel.
Late in 1998 Gold Band entered the world of cyberspace with the introduction and online presence of www.goldbandtaxis.co.nz
In June 1999 Gold Band installed the first GPS system in New Zealand
CabCall was launched in 2001. This enabled our regular users to quickly order a Gold Band Taxi with a few simple clicks of a button. Today CabCall has evolved and is able to do a lot more..
